Baby’s room is starting to overflow with clothes, toys, blankets and other baby stuff, thanks to the generosity of our friends and family and my inability to stay away from baby clothes. There really are cute baby boy clothes— who knew?!
Some of the very first gifts the little pickle received last summer are very special to us.
We spend a lot of time and money at our favorite hardware store, the local Cottin’s Hardware. In fact, I’ve bought so many gallons of paint there that Linda probably thinks we’ve repainted every inch of our house fourteen times. We probably have. When Dave started telling people he was going to be a dad, Cottin’s gave us one of our first baby gifts: a romper embroidered with the Cottin’s logo. Baby will wear it proudly.
Every child needs a piggy bank. An adorable blue polka-dot piggy bank is another one of baby’s first gifts, from our friend Jana. She collects pigs, so she’s started a tradition of buying piggy banks for friends and family who are expecting babies. I think that’s a really sweet and meaningful gift, and we love it. Grammy Alice was the first person to put change in the bank— good thing someone’s starting the college fund early.
Grandma Joyce sent us a pair of baby Jayhawk socks as soon as she found out she was going to be a grandma again. Baby socks are tiny and adorable.
