Boots are one of my very favorite things, and boots are one of the only things I like about cold weather.
I haven’t been able to wear any of my regular shoes since sometime in July due to the excessive swelling in my feet. On the positive side, it was a reason to buy new flip flops and a couple other pairs of slip-on shoes. But now that it’s cold and rainy outside, I miss my boots. Especially my black Frye boots.
Tip: if you ever have the opportunity to buy a pair of Fryes, do it. Especially if they’re on sale. I scored mine for around $100 at Vanderbilt’s a few years ago— I needed boots for a biker costume. At the time I thought it was ridiculous to spend that on shoes for a costume, but I’m glad I did. I’ve worn those boots so many times, and they can be re-heeled and re-soled and will essentially last forever. Good investment.
Since I can’t wear any of my regular boots or shoes, and it’s too cold for flip flops now, I decided to treat myself to a new pair of boots. I had my eye on a pair of brown Carlos Santana boots, and last weekend I took my 30% off coupon to Famous Footwear and bought them. In a size that’s two sizes larger than what I normally wear. I figure, if my feet miraculously shrink back down to their normal size after the pickle arrives, I can always just wear thick socks with them.
